Whether making a real estate investment or simply seeking a place to vacation, finding a place with an active local community, delectable culinary offerings and a thriving arts scene are a few of the amenities that make a destination desirable.
Newman-Dailey Real Estate Agent Keli O’Neal is passionate about performing arts and appreciates the growing focus on the arts along Florida’s Emerald Coast. Keli has danced classical ballet, tap and jazz from the age of two. Her love of dance continues with her daughter who is now at the Northwest Florida Ballet Academié. Keli recently shared how the local ballet is giving area youth an opportunity to train and bring the highest quality performing arts to the Destin and South Walton community.
“The Northwest Florida Ballet Academié is holding intensive summer ballet classes and rehearsals in preparation for their annual production, Ballet at Twilight. This popular outdoor performance will feature a mixed repertoire of classic and modern works performed by the company members of the Northwest Florida Ballet, some Academie students, as well as, international guest artists.
Ballet at Twilight will be performed at Grand Boulevard, in Sandestin, June 23rd at 7:30 pm. This is one of the best things to do in Destin each year and is a great night out for families. The Emerald Coast is proud to have a visionary like Todd Eric Allen who created this beautiful partnership between the Arts and the Okaloosa County School District.
The Northwest Florida Ballet Academié is a free public school for grades 3-8. All incoming third graders must audition in the spring and about 40 students are chosen to begin training in ballet, French, art and music, as well as traditional academic classes. The school was founded in 2002 and has consistently been rated an “A” school by the state of Florida. Former students of this program have gone on to dance with the prestigious American Ballet Theatre in NYC, Boston Ballet, competing on “So You Think You Can Dance” and more. This is an incredible opportunity for children from a coastal fishing village to be able to train and dance alongside, or even become, some of the most famous dancers in the world.”
