Bay County
Panama City is a city in and the county seat of Bay County Florida. Home to two military bases, Tyndall Air Force Base and Florida Army National Guard’s 53rd Infantry Brigade, the federal government is the largest employer in Bay County. The city is also home to the U.S. Navy’s Naval Support Activity Panama City, which conducts research and training. The city’s main retail center was the Panama City Mall, which was permanently closed after Hurricane Michael. Plans to rebuild include a hotel, retail shops and restaurants. Other retail areas include the 15th Street Shopping Strip, Beck Ave, 23rd Street Shopping Strip, Downtown Panama City, Historic St. Andrews and Millville Historic District. In 2006, Panama City was named the best place to invest in real estate in the US by CNN’s Business 2.0 Magazine.

Panama City Beach is a waterfront town and vacation destination located southwest of Panama City and known for its white sand beaches as well as St. Andrews State Park. Boasting 27 miles of beautiful white sand beaches, Panama City Beach is home to Pier Park shopping and entertainment center as well as many attractions, including the Shipwreck Island Waterpark and Ripley’s Believe it or not, among others.
