North Walton County
DeFuniak Springs is the county seat of Walton County. DeFuniak Springs is home to Lake DeFuniak, one of two spring-fed lakes in the world that is perfectly round. In 2019, MSN Insider Online named the city the best small town in Florida. The town has a rich history including serving as the winter location for the Chautauqua Assembly. Today, DeFuniak Springs features Victorian-style homes around Lake Defuniak. The charming downtown features the historic Chatauqua Assembly Building, the oldest library in the state of Florida and historic Hotel DeFunaik. South Walton's beaches are approximately 35 minutes south of the downtown.
